‘Reinvent’ is the long awaited debut release of Dutch electro-pop formation NY Fan. With tracks such as ‘Friday Night’ and ‘The City’ already getting airplay and international blog attention for the past two years, now they are included on a 5 track mini-album which is released by independent Dutch electronic record label Manual Music.

With ‘Reinvent’, Dutch singer/songwriter - and brain behind NY Fan – Fanny Bartels made her first solo-steps in the area of electronic pop. Bartels started her musical career with guitar-based folksongs. After meeting up with Roger van der Zwan (Rogerseventytwo, and member TWR72) in 2007 she started mixing her songwriting with electronic production. It resulted in a few demos that circulated the internet and had much international support. This was the basis on which Bartels then found the Australian disco-electro formation We Are Fans together with Australian DJ/producer Harris Robotis. After their successful 2010 EP release Inferno Bartels started her solo-project NY Fan.

Working together with Van der Zwan for the whole album, Reinvent is a combination of melodic pop songs with electronic flavors, which find their offspring in Disco, eighties synthpop and modern versions like French Electro. Likes of Daft Punk, Grace Jones, Roisin Murphy and even David Bowie have been named.

Bartels made her Dutch debut with live band late December 2011. The past year has been a year of making first steps in the Dutch music scene and getting recognition through acknowledged music platforms and being selected for the Dutch new talent festival Popronde. 2013 will see more tour dates, several remix-releases on Manual Music, some feature-releases and a full-album release in the fall.
